Coaching Release your creativity. Whether we are aware of it or not, we are constantly in a process of creating our own lives, and living within the lives we have created. We can choose to work creatively with just about anything: from art to ideas, jobs, relationships, social structures and organizations - even our own bodies, habits and mental/emotional processes. Being consciously creative can be deeply satisfying, allowing us to give our greatest gifts to ourselves and to the world. It can also be difficult - I know from experience. Challenges I have met on the creative path include getting myself started on creative projects, working creatively with others, choosing the best level of creative challenge, balancing creative flow with critical appraisal, and taking creative projects to completion. I would be glad to share what I have learned and to support you on your own creative journey. Transform suffering into growth. From time to time, all of us feel troubled. I believe this is a natural part of life. At these times, I have found it can be amazingly transformative to be heard deeply, by someone who is able to be with us with care, acceptance and empathy. Being heard in this way can help release us from suffering into experiences of insight, learning and growth. I hope to provide this type of support and companionship in our conversations. Get my perspective. I want to do more than just listen - I also want to share what comes up for me in response. I love learning about how human beings grow, relate, create, and work together. As we talk, my learning and life experience gets synthesized into my own personal perspectives on the issues in your life. I may also have ideas about practices you may want to try. I intend to share these perspectives and ideas with you - not to solve your problems for you, but to offer insights that may support your own process. Improve your communication skills and relationships. Our culture supports us in learning to think, express our thoughts and debate. But truly connecting with another human being requires more. We must be able to express ourselves with authenticity. We must be able to receive the other person with compassion, understanding and presence. And we must be able to sense, name and express what's alive in us and in others - our emotions and deepest values. I know from experience: learning these skills can make a dramatic difference in the quality of all our relationships, at home and at work. If there are particular relationships in your life that you would like to focus on, you are welcome to invite one or more guests to our coaching meetings. Reduce conflict in your life. When we are disconnected from others - in conflict, afraid or mistrustful - we all have subtle and not-so-subtle ways of trying to manipulate and control others, while we keep our agendas hidden. The problem is, no one likes to be manipulated or controlled, so our conflicts end up perpetuated and increased. Learning to truly connect with others gives us another option: building trust and reducing conflict by expressing ourselves authentically and hearing others compassionately, while staying true to our own needs and values. I value these skills, and I would like to support you in cultivating them within yourself. Develop your leadership skills. Leadership exercises many of our life skills simultaneously, including self-awareness, relating with others, risk-taking and creativity. I have found leadership to be an exciting and powerful way to contribute, as well as an ongoing opportunity for discovering and walking my edges for growth. If you are already in a leadership role, or if you would like to develop your leadership skills, I look forward to exploring this territory with you. Expand your consciousness. Western education focuses on developing our ability to think. Thinking is an important and useful skill... but ask yourself this: "am I having my thoughts, or are my thoughts having me?" When our thoughts have us, our thinking mind has taken over the show - we do not have much choice about our thinking, and our thoughts carry us away from the juice of life in the here and now. I believe the solution is not to get rid of thinking, but to transcend it - so we can think clearly when we choose to, without getting caught up in our thoughts. Transcending thinking creates an opening in our experience, allowing awe, wonder, bliss, gratitude, and compassion to enter. I believe there are many valid paths for exploring realms of experience beyond the rational. Different paths are suited to different people. I would be glad to support you in finding a path that speaks to you.
To take the next steps toward coaching with me:
I look forward to hearing from you. |
